His forty-four year journey in medicine began with the first class of Respiratory Therapy at the University of Oklahoma becoming both certified and registered in Respiratory Therapy, followed by another degree from the same university as a certified Physician Assistant. He also has undergraduate degrees in biology, chemistry and history. After graduating from the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, he completed a rotating internship at United States Naval Hospital, San Diego, California which at that time was the largest and most active of all military hospitals.
